Perhaps someone from her birth-mother's side of the family could tell 
her where the family lived at the time of conception, and then by using 
city directories or Census records, she could look to see if there was 
an Albert Common-Germanic-Surname in the neighborhood. This would be a 
likely suspect (or if there are several, and there might be, list of 
suspects).

Lois, with an uncommon German last name (and no Alberts on that side of 
the family that I know of).
