Speaking as someone who served way out of range of normal
services in my time, I can tell you that my oufit !LOVED!
getting fudge, brownies, and things like that; they would
not dry out like so many other things did.  Mom's quickly
heard back that some things travelled better than others,
and learned ways to pack in coffee cans, Tupperwares, and
Rubbermaid, and the like.

That's the simple truth from the boys living on the edge.

Perfumed letters weren't too bad either.

You tend to forget even what roses smell like. . . .
