[PW] ?what to send to soldiers

My son did two tours in Iraq. We sent him a box of things every
Saturday morning; planning this helped us get through the week. These
are some of the things that that he asked for and we sent:

* Cans of hearty soup. Their mess tent was regularly bombed at
meal times.

* Oven mitts. Useful for when cooking with microwaves and for
shells in tanks.

* Dvds. Something cheerful. Ninja Turtle movies were a big
hit.

*         Westerns.

* Small toys, like silly putty, yo-yos, etc.

*         Compact games, like checkers.

*         Extra washcloths.

*         Toiletries.

*         Sheets for cots.

* Paperbacks. Adventure stories were a big hit, but humor was
good too. My son is a history nut, so he also enjoyed books on the
civil war.

*         Magazine subscriptions.

* Gum, candy, trail mix, beef jerky.

*         Vitamins.

*         Glasses cleaning kits.

* Things to give to the children, if they will take them.

Hope this helps!

Phyllis

Subject: [PW] ?what to send to soldiers

One of our former pages is in Afghanistan and we would like to collect

items for packages to send to him and his unit. I know there are some

things we can't send. Does anyone have a list of what to send?
