Thanks very much. Explains why _The Message_ is so bellicose. It's an
alternate history book, published in 1907 so far as I can tell from
used books on sale online. (Should check WorldCat, I suppose.) Germany
invades East Anglia and commits massacre and rapine, aided by
perfidious Germans who have infiltrated the UK. Also aided by
despicable pacifists and socialists.

Oi, oi, part of the build-up to WW I.
