[PW] 1922(?) Bombing in Hong Kong

Thank you very much to everyone who provided such helpful information.
Although the Seaman's Strike initially looked promising as a cause of
the stated delay, Dan Bye has pointed out that the strike was settled
in March 1922, and as the man in question didn't set sail for the U.S.
until October 1923 (arriving in San Francisco in December), it
realistically couldn't have affected him. It appears at best that the
patron's father might have conflated events occurring in India and
Hong Kong, and at worst that if he actually was delayed a year in Hong
Kong, the more likely cause was immigration quotas. Apparently he
told his children the stories some 30-40 years later, so it is not
difficult to imagine he didn't remember everything exactly.

I hope my patron isn't too disappointed -- somehow a bombing is more
exciting than an immigration quota.
