You could try spelling it "farklempt" or "verklempt".  What you've given is 
an Americanization of a Yiddish word that, like many Yiddish words, has been 
transformed for comic effect by comedians who didn't know much Yiddish to 
begin with.
That said, the current meaning is "anxiety-ridden" or "made anxious". I've 
even heard it used as a positive term, which it is not.
