Nancy Atherton's Aunt Dimity series, I think Mignon Ballard's Angel series,
Alexander McCall Smith (a little violence in the first Ladies' Detective
Agency book), Ann Ross's Miss Julia, Earlene Fowler, Susan Wittig Albert,
Jennifer Chivari, Diana Mott Davidson, Jeanne Dams, Donna Andrews' Meg
Laslow series.
