The Children's Librarian here has come to me asking for help in finding a
book for the final book discussion during the school year. She is looking
for a humorous book for grade level 4th-6th. She said that the ones they
have been reading are "depressing" and wants to end the years' book
discussions on a lighter note. My days of reading books at the level are far
enough behind that I have gone completely blank on a recommendation, and
decided to fall back on the list for help.

Some of the books they have already read are The Library Card by Jerry
Spinelli, The Giver by Lois Lowry, and the current one is Mrs. Frisby and
the Rats of Nimh by Robert O'Brien.

If anyone can recommend a funny book with a reading level similar to the
above, that would also be a good book for discussion, please email the
recommendations to me personally, and I will send a compiled version to the
list if anyone wishes.

Thanks,

Sharon Custer
