Quoting John Henderson <jhenderson at ithaca.edu>:
> The Delmarva peninsula takes its name from Delaware, Maryland, and

John, Salisbury University has a research center devoted to the history
and demography of Delmarva at nabbhistory.salisbury.edu. That seems to
be the place to inquire. Since the various occupying tribes were
Algonquian-speaking, their name(s) for the peninsula may have been
similar.
