I had to go to the DCI site (www.dci.org) and look at some pictures of the drum corps to check, but they do seem to march with very large horns, at least tuba-like:

and they don't just march up and down, but in patterns, even more so than high school or college marching bands. No reeds, though, just horns and percussion--and color guard.
At some performances all the competing corps--usually at the finals--form on the field (10-12 corps of more than 120 each (tho maybe a fourth to a third are often color guard) and play at the same time "America the Beautiful" combined with "Oh, Canada"--it gives you shivers! Because the football field is wide, each groups drum major is in the stands to direct their corps while watching a primary drum major. While at the finals in Orlando (Citrus Bowl Stadium) ten years ago, ALL the corps, divisions I, II, and III, filled the seats on one side of the stadium and all played together--incredibly awesome!--and there had to be over 2000 kids playing (oldest would be 21).

[2 of my children were in the Division I corps, Phantom Regiment from Rockford/Loves Park, Illinois, for several years, but they played percussion--multi-tenors and pit]
