Thank you very much indeed - this is great. I think the June issue was Part  
VI.
 
  I am obtaining the 1901 book as we speak (by mail) so will compare  that 
version with this article.
 
  It does seem strange why "1898" would even be used as supposed  first 
publication by Moffett if the St Nicholas series was 1901 and the  book, as Denny 
said, was published later that year (1901).
