I thought perhaps the reference was meant to be to HARPER'S WEEKLY
rather than to HARPER'S MONTHLY. We do have electronic access to
HarpWeek also, and the 29 January 1876 does contain pages numbered 93 and 94,
but there's nothing on those pages about Leo Stevens (stories instead
on the Prince of Wales' visit to India and on artistic impressions of
Iceland).
What's the source of the HARPER citation you found suggesting a tie-in?
