[PW] Teen series from the eighties

Hi everyone,

I have a patron looking for a series of books she read in the eighties.
There were at least 2 books in the series. It was a young adult series in
which the main character was 14 or 15. She falls for an older guy (late
teens, early twenties) who is possibly the lead singer in a local band. She
lies about her age and they start dating. At some point she tells him the
truth; there's a breakup; they get back together. The book(s) ends soon
after they have sex for the first time.

Is that sufficiently vague?  

I'm at my wit's end. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
