Is it this title?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_White_Plague

I read it when it first came out, and the plague was spread initially by
paper - money specifically, I think.

Once again I turn to the collective for help identifying a book a patron
can't remember the title of. Hopefully this intriguring plot will ring
a bell with someone out there:

question: I am looking for an old book, not sure if in print.
Story line is plague of unknown origin and turns out that our paper and
ink is the cause. Something we use everyday and don't even think about
it.
I think the word Babylon is in the title, but it has been a long time.

Appreciate any leads as always.
