[PW] trying to locate Lithuanian town

It is not only a matter of misspelling or misinterpretation, but also
of different pronunciations.  I would not be surprised if the patron's
ancestors were Jewish, and their pronunciation (and therefore phonetic
spelling) of the city name reflected a Yiddish pronunciation.  As an
example, the city of Kreuzburg was fairly consistently pronounced
Kreitsburg by Jews.
