One more clue: The Canadian ambassador to the U.S. gave a speech in Toronto
in 2005. During the speech he discusses a trip which he took to
Monticello. With his VERY OWN EYES (or so he described it), he actually
saw such a letter, and it was the ambassador to Spain.
