[PW] Icelandic Maiden Name?

When I was a kid in the early 1960s I had a friend named Helga Johansdottir 
(might have been spelled with 2 Ns) who pronounced her last name 'Johansen.' 
At the time I thought it was strange, but I never asked her about it.  This 
was in a town in northern New Jersey with a lot of people of Icelandic 
origin.
