[PW] French Franc to U.S. Dollar--1920s to 1940s

I work at a community college library, so we have very limited historical resources and due to our budgets very little business statistics resources.  A patron would like to find for each year from 1920 to 1949 the ratio of the French Franc to the U.S. dollar.  The closest I can find for a table--of what we have--is the CRB Commodity Yearbook (edition we have is the 2004 edition)--which only lists 1994-2003.  Our books in this area are practically nil.  Could someone help give an idea where I could guide the patron?  I've tried to find it on the Web, so far no luck (at least anything toward a free web source).
