[PW] Translation of Latin Phrase

I know that at least a couple of my fellow Wombats can help me out with 
a translation from Latin to English, so please do. (The online 
translation devices are too literal, and dictionaries are not much help 
when you do not know the language.)

The way that the phrase was given to me was: "Nic nimis prope, nic nimis 
longe"
although, I believe, that "nic" should be "nec"(?).

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
