I would suggest Open Office Writer. Open Office 2.3 suite is free.

I have to finish this book /right now/ or my beloved bride, the beauteous Anita
Brown, will put me out on the street with my computer and all my books and
files. Maybe she will stake me to a shopping cart and some black plastic garbage
bags. My children -- all grown -- are backing her on this. They haven't yet set
a deadline but it is very clear that I better wrap this up with all dispatch.

I am going to produce the book in Adobe Creative Suite 3. What would be the
best /Windows/ software application(s) to help me organize, write and process
this project for export to CS3?
