Michael,
One good place to start would be with the American
Library Association's Office for Intellectual Freedom

They have a lot of information. Look through some of
the Banned Books Week materials for specific examples
of things that have been censored, or at least
questioned ("challenged" is the usual word nowadays)
and why.
