Dear Madam or Sir:
I was given this email address with the hope of receiving help in finding
the family of US Army Soldier Sherril T. Shelton. On his WWII enlistment he
states he was born l9l9 in Oklahoma, but his native residence is Harris Co,
Texas. In l942, Sherril plus 11 other soldiers drown at Charlie Lake, British
Columbia. The bodies were sent back, so there should be an obit somewhere in a
Harris Co newspaper shortly after the drowning and then maybe a week or so
later when the body arrived for burial.
The reason I want to find an obit of Sherril is to advise his family that a
Memorial Dedication will be held in Fort St. John, B.C. next spring and his
family is invited to attend. Also, the Memorial museum would like a picture of
him and any other info that would be appropriate for his pillar on the
monument.
Thank you for any help you can give.
Mary
The l930 census of Alfalpha Co, Ok finds Sherril and his siblings at a Odd
Fellows Orphanage. Alfalpha Co veterans have not been able to help. Library
needed exact dates.
