Just a thought.   The State Historical Society of Missouri has an extensive collection of newspaper microfilm.   They have a web site with information on holdings and ILL procedures.   If the Kansas City News Press was on the Missouri side, perhaps they will be able to help.

Hi Fellow Wombatters, 
	I sent out a request about 10 days ago asking for information about the Kansas City News Press. I wrote the request quickly, with only the barest information. Thought I'd repost my request with more information, since my first brief request hasn't led to any clues.
	I am a researcher at the LA Times and have been trying to track down copies of the Kansas City News Press (sometimes called the Kansas City Daily News Press) for a few months now. I've contacted the Library of Congress, several libraries and historical societies in the Kansas City area (both on the Missouri and Kansas sides) as well as the publication that succeeded the News Press, The Daily Record, of Kansas City. Although several libraries have back issues of the News Press and The Daily Record on microfilm, none, so far, have issues of the News Press from 1948.   
 	My colleague has also contacted former employees and owners of the newspaper to no avail. We're trying to locate specific issues from May and June 1948 that we hope will have stories about a death at the local jail. As you might tell by this long trail and tale, we're desperate to find copies. I'm thinking that perhaps a local library or historical society in the area, where the holdings are not in an online catalog, might have some back issues. Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
