Our college newspaper as such did not begin till 1914.  Before then, we had a 
monthly magazine, which sometimes included a column of squibs about recent 
events.  Many issues of this magazine are missing, but I've looked
through the ones that are there, without finding anything.  

I'll check out the folklife URLs.  Thanks for the help!
