P.L.227-1993 refers to public law 227 during the 1993 session of the
legislature and P.L.288-2001 refers to public law 288 during the 2001
legislature. You would want to find the journals for the House and/or Senate
from 1993 (not available online) to get the first reference. For 2001, they
have the information online. There is a list here to cross-reference P.L.
numbers with enrolled act numbers:
http://www.in.gov/legislative/reports/2001/PLBL.PDF. From there we find that
P.L. 288-2001 is HEA 1951 and the relevant section reads:
SECTION 6. IC 25-27.5-1-1 IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1,
2001]: Sec. 1. This article does not apply to the following:
(1) A physician assistant trainee or a student enrolled in a
physician assistant or a surgeon assistant educational program accredited by
the CAHEA,* an accrediting agency.*
(2) A physician assistant employed in the service of the federal
government while performing duties incident to that employment.
(3) A health care professional, technician, and *or* other assistant
or employee of a physician who performs delegated tasks in the office of a
physician but who does not render services as a physician assistant or
profess to be a physician assistant.
You can find this sort of information for every session back to 1999 at
http://www.in.gov/legislative/session/archives.html. 1998 and 1997 have only
a basic list of the bills passed.
