I would be surprised if "movie folk" were "accepted in 'polite' society" in
1915 or anytime soon thereafter.  Actors -- theater, burlesque, vaudeville,
and movies -- were not well thought of well into the 1920s and '30s.  They
might have been able to eat at restaurants -- including fancy ones -- but
"polite society" wasn't likely to be opening their doors to actors at 
that time.
