I agree: here in Australia there is some question as to if introduced worms pose a danger to native worms, including the Giant Gippsland Earthworm.

Not always. In the latest issue of New Scientist, 3. march 2007 (vol
193, no 2593) there is a story about how allien earthworms are causing
great damage and actually destroying the soil. The story is "War of
the Worms" by Jessica Marshall, p42-43. One of the areas damaged is in
Minnesota.
