       The cartoons I miss the most are those by Charles Addams (yeah, I 
know--they're collected in a book--but it's not the same as waiting each month for 
the new issue of New Yorker and the new cartoon  by Addams).  

       However, the one cartoon that I have alweays remembered is the one 
that showed two guys (suits, obviously businressmen) on stools at a bar--martini 
glasses in front of each man, the NYC street scene through the big glass 
window behind them.  One of them speaks:  "Sometimes I want to burn with a hard, 
gem-like flame--but then at other tines I say--'Aw, the hell with it.'"
