The credited writers of Beverly Hills Cop got a 1984 Academy Award
nomination for Writing (Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen) --
Screenplay by Daniel Petrie, Jr.; Story by Danilo Bach, Daniel Petrie, Jr.
(according to http://awardsdatabase.oscars.org). I remember news
articles at the time discussing whether the nomination was deserved
and whether they had much chance of winning the Oscar, since comedian
Eddie Murphy, the film's star, was widely credited with ad-libbing or
adding to the script, without credit, many of his character's best lines.
Our full-text database doesn't go back that far, but some of these articles
could be in LexisNexis.
