Turn-of-the-century parlor music and recitation poetry tended to be
pretty much a matter of life or death -- I can still hear my mother
stirringly reciting "The boy stood on the burning deck, whence all
but he had fled......"

--- Carolyn, who got some really strange looks unloading those
ghastly new Baker & Taylor packing boxes at the local recyclers with
"When the bullet hits the bone" blasting out of the minivan.
