Wombats:
A patron has emailed wanting to know if I've any idea where she can get a German translation of the Sam Walter Foss poem, 'The Calf-Path,' which appears in his collection, "Whiffs from Wild Meadows."
I have done an author search for Sam Walter Foss in OCLC limiting the language to German (nichts), and done a Google search for same specifying only German-language pages.
I also did an author search in the catalog of the German National Library.
Ideas, suggestions?
Many thanks,
Kevin

Apparently it was not until 1962 that a criminal defendant in GA was
allowed to give sworn testimony on his own behalf; prior to that, he could only
make an unsworn Statement in Court, with or without (unsworn) cross-examination,
as he permitted (or declined). The presumption had been that the defendant had
too much reason to lie (self-interest), and should not thus be given the
opportunity to lie under oath!
I now only need the actual text of the 1910 GA Criminal Code, Article 38,
Sect. 415-416 to see how this prohibition was originally worded, if anyone has
access to that...
Thanks!
Allen
