[PW] short story ID?

 A patron is trying to recall title and author of a short story written in the 50s (she believes) about a student professor relationship.

The plot is basically a professor intercepts a classroom note being passed from one female student to another. The note says, "I don't care what you think, he's really handsome" (or words to that effect). The professor ends up giving the writer of the note a great grade and sometime after semester's end overhears other faculty talking, to learn this girl did that in all her classes to get good grades. Story ends on note of disillusionment and betrayal.

Thoughts? Possibilities?
