Hello Fred,
Transcript ...
TED SORENSEN: Well, the author of Profiles in Courage was John F.
Kennedy. The author is the man who stands behind what is there on the
printed page. It's his responsibility to put his name to it and to put
it out.
The Kennedys. The American Experience. PBS.

"The American Experience" rounds out the week with repeats of "L.B.J."
(Tuesday and Wednesday at 8 P.M.) and "Nixon" (Thursday night at 8),
probing looks at other complex figures driven by power, idealism and
fate. The scheduling makes sense; neither Johnson nor Nixon could fully
shake off America's memory of John F. Kennedy.
...At the center of the carefully wrought four-hour documentary, which
begins tonight at 8 on PBS, is Joseph P. Kennedy, the stock market
manipulator, bootlegger, producer of low-budget movies and womanizer
who became, in the narrator's assessment, "the richest Irish-American
on earth."

> My editor tells me that she recollects seeing a documentary about John
> Kennedy or the Kennedy family sometime in the 1970s or 1980s in which
> Sorensen was interviewed about Kennedy's book _Profiles in Courage_.
> Sorenson, asked point-blank if JFK wrote the book, said, more or less,
> "The author is the person whose name is on the work and who takes
> responsibility for it, and he was the author."
>
> Can anyone supply any details of this broadcast interview or about other
> instances where Sorensen said something along these lines about authorship
