Anyone recognize this story? I couldn't come up with it

Patron say " I'm looking for a book/novel that was read to me YEARS ago (at least 10 =
years ago) - I have very little information/memory to go on, however, I'm =
hoping that my horribly brief discription will be enough for someone to =
identify this book for me - this is all I remember: the main character is =
a fox (I *think* it was a fox) - he may have been traveling or visiting =
friends, seems I remember him encountering many different "people" (it may =
have been other animals or both) - I was left with the impression that =
adhering to times, dates, and schedules isn't always important or =
shouldn't always be so important - perhaps we sometimes focus too much on =
meeting deadlines and such - the book seemed to discourage placing =
    importance on times or dates=
