Dear Jeff
The University of Cape Town Libraries' Rare Books & Special Collections Department has 18 collections, 4 of which are loan collections. They can be issued to staff (for a month) and students (for 2 weeks) and out on interlibrary loan. For further information please see our website (details given below). I am away from my desk from tomorrow until 12 February, and am quite happy to answer any queries you might have.
Best wishes
Tanya Barben

Dear Colleagues,
I was wondering if any of you have special collections, or other
non-circulating collections, from which staff are allowed to borrow, and, if
so, what parameters you set up for use of the material, etc. This has been
an on-going question here and Id like to see what other libraries may be
doing. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks. - -Jeff

"I have sometimes imagined a library, i.e. a collection of the works of true
poets, philosophers, naturalists, etc., deposited not in a brick and marble
edifice in a crowded and dusty city. . . but rather far away in the depths
of the primitive forest. . ."
