Thanks, Denny! By curious coincidence (per usual) this MacFadden fellow was 
also involved in a tangential way with the Lindbergh kidnapping - is this 
syzygy or what?

 The earliest ref to Leonide is now 1892 (per Sue), when he was being touted 
as a "Chicago Hercules" - he was born in England in 1855, and came to the US 
in 1865.

  I found a cylinder of his voice.

  He may still be living - I can't find an obit for him...
