We have some of these books. Being in an area that
defines itself by its rivers, several volumes of the
Rivers series are still popular here. I just went back
to our shelves and grabbed the first "Rivers of
America" volume I saw (_River of the Carolinas: The
Santee_, by Henry Savage, Jr., 1956)

It has a two-page list of titles "already published in
the series" in the front of the book, just before the
title page. I counted 52 titles on this list. They
are in alphabetical order by title, which is usually
the name of the river, from _The Allegheny_ ([one of
our local rivers!] by Frederick Way, Jr.) to _The
Yazoo River_ (by Frank E. Smith), and at the end of
the list is _Songs of the Rivers of America_ edited by
Carl Cramer, Cramer being the overall editor of the
series, which was published by Rinehart and Company,
Inc. (New York and Toronto).

Is the alphabetical order the order you need? Would
this list be enough of a start for you? I'm not sure
if there were more books after _The Santee_; this
would take more searching! If you like, e-mail me
offlist with your fax number to my regular work e-mail
(fundisl at weirton.lib.wv.us, currently unsubscribed
from PW due to the spam filter fiasco!) and I can send
this list to you, or I can scan it on our scanner and
e-mail the image to you in .gif or .jpg or some such.

I may need to look harder to find the Mainstream of
America series but I think we have some of it, too.
