Well, the notice about the loss of ~90 subscribers makes me wonder who might
have been able to help but won't see the question. Yet I've been thinking
about posting this for some time and procrastinating doesn't get me any
closer to an answer.

Some time ago, a fair number of years, I read something or other -- a book
on parapsychology or the occult -- that included a fascinating story. It
might have been by the primary author of the book or it might have been an
inset 'quote' from some other source. But the basic story was about a woman
who discussed the concept of reincarnation with a friend (also female) who
then died in some sort of accident not very long afterwards. At the moment
of her friend's death, the narrator saw a classic 'death apparition' of her
friend, who told her clearly "there is no reincarnation". I would really
like to remember or rediscover where I read this story, but I have read
quite widely in these subjects. Colin Wilson, Ruth Montgomery, "The Seth
Material" (Jane Roberts), etc. It's just too much to go back over on such a
vague recollection. Would this be a suitable question to post on 'Stump the
Bookseller' or is that only for fiction?
