While this is not an answer offering an example, the first article which
caught my attention was: Gary Price and Chris Sherman in, "Exploring the
Invisible Web" Online 25(4) July/August 2001, p.32-4.
It is based upon their book, Invisible Web: Uncovering Information
Sources Search Engines Can't See, Chris Sherman and Gary Price.
Information Today, Inc., Jan. 2001. 402p. ISBN 091096551X
They offer ways to search and where these may be used to the best
advantage.
If you use the author's last names and do a proximity search on your
local databases, you should locate articles that have cited them as well
as book reviews which offer some examples from their book and/or their
application. (We have EBSCOhost databases here and their Proximity
Search technique may be found by going to Help and then Proximity
Searching. One detail not mentioned in their examples is you may change
the number from 1 to about 20 to change how close you want the words to
occur. Other major databases have variations of this method.)
A method for limiting a Google search for online examples of their
search methods (indicated by the citations) is given in Hack #71:
"Performing Proximity Searches," in Google Hacks: 100
Industrial-Strength Tips & Tools, by Tara Calishain & Rael Dornfest.
Beijing: O'Reilly, 2003. p.222-225.

Subject: [PW] ?deep web searching

Hello All,

This is not a reference questions per se but my colleague is trying to
find
examples of how searching the "deep" web was successful in helping a
patron
- I suppose the deep web can be defined how ever you want but I thought
I
would ask if anyone had an example.
