Cindy:
I would recommend the Area Handbook Series
Italy: A Country Study, edited by Rinn S. Shinn Washington DC: Government Printing Office, 1985.

Subject: [PW] ? modern Italian family life
I have a patron working on an international marketing plan for a
business class. She needs to find information about the current state
of the family in Italy. In particular, she needs information on the
nuclear family, extended family, parental roles, marriage and courtship,
and male & female roles.
I have looked in our book collection, the public library's collection,
Academic Search Premier, SocIndex, and Google but have only found a few
articles which touch on these subjects. I'm finding a lot of
information on various periods of history but she needs information on
current Italian culture. There is also a lot on the Catholic Church's
teachings regarding marriage and family but what she needs is
information on how it actually is from a cultural standpoint, not how it
should be from a theological standpoint, if that distinction makes
sense.
She needs this information by Tuesday so I'm hoping someone can point me
in the direction of a reliable web site or other source which may offer
an overall portrait of modern Italian family life.
Many thanks in advance.
