Another Burt Reynolds possibility is _The End_ (1978). According to
the NYT review, "He visits his elderly parents (Myrna Loy and Pat
O'Brien), who are nice but too self-absorbed to notice that he has
absconded with all their sleeping pills." I guess Burt was in a drug
phase in the '70s.
