There was a "C D Zimmerman Trucking" serving the Northeast and Ohio 
Valley.  I don't know if goes back as far as the 1940's.   Here's a website 
for the current company, which operates out of Pennsylvania:

There was a Zimmerman Trucking operating out of Knightstown, Indiana, as 
far back as 1939.  I don't know if it is the same company as "C D Zimmerman 
Trucking."
