My experience with multi-media projectors is that they usually do a very
good job of projecting DVDs and Videos. However, I have found that the
quality of sound is questionable. I would suggest that you need to find
some reasonable quality speakers which will work well with the projector -
whatever brand you finally settle on.
Cheers
Bruce

Quoting Reference <ref_lib at yahoo.com>:
: We need to purchase a DVD projector to show DVDs
: in our community room. The room is approximately
: 33' by 36'. We are somewhat constrained in that
: we have to purchase a Dell, and we are under some
: pressure to purchase the less expensive model.
: This would be a Dell 1800MP. I'm trying to find
: out if this would be sufficient for our needs,
: and I know less than nothing about this sort of
: thing.
:
: The specs are:
:
: 2100 lumens brightness
: 2000:1 contrast
: 1x0.55 imaging
: 15-PIN Analog component input
: Dual VGA ports
: Internal speaker, 2W side-mounted
:
: Dell's customer service assures me the internal
: speaker will be sufficient for that size room.
: All the reviews I've read seem to indicate it's a
: good value, but they're all geared more toward
: business uses - sales presentations and the like.
:
:
: Has anyone had experience with this particular
: model, or is anyone knowledgable enough about DVD
: projectors to see the above specs and say either
: "Great!" or "BEWARE!"
:
: ...or at least tell me what else to ask Dell...
:
: Thanks so much.
