This is good to know. Heretofore, I have not used "insofar" often. Henceforth, I will not use it at all. :)

If you're referring specifically to words like inasmuch and insofar,
Fowler calls these "compound prepositions and conjunctions," and he
doesn't think much of them: "The best thing we can now do with
inasmuch as is to get it decently buried..."
