Hi,
Thanks for the additional details on this interesting character. His 1900
Census in Niles, Mich claims that he was born in England in Oct 1855 and came
to the US in 1865 - but there is no record of that trans-Atlantic passage.
He married Kathleen Ives in 1892. No children apparent.
An interesting puzzle develops in the Calif Death Index, where there is a
'Leonide Leonidas Keatinghe' (not born in US), dying in Sept 1945 in Los
Angeles.
That last name there almost seems like a typo (or two words compressed: um,
blended?) - does anyone have access to a Los Angeles City Directory (or Death
Cert) for that period to see if this fellow (Keating/he) is a 'real' person?
His birth month is right, but not the birth year. Either way, he seems to have
lived a long time. He has been apprenticed as a child to a circus (bareback
rider), and after breaking his spine, developed his physical fitness program.
The sole voice recording seems to date from ca. 1904.
Thanks!
Allen
