[PW] Watt Quote

Wikipedia reports that, " Speaking before Congress, he once said, "I do
not know how many future generations we can count on before the Lord
returns, whatever it is we have to manage with a skill to leave the
resources needed for future generations."[9] However, this quote over
the years has been altered by liberal critics to where he supposedly
said, "After the last tree is felled, Christ will come back."[10]
And, worse than that, he apparently cancelled a Beach Boys concert
because rock concerts attract "an undesirable element."

Hey guys --
In 1981, Reagan's secretary of the Interior, James Watt, supposedly said
to Congress that protecting natural resources was unimportant in light
of
the imminent return of Jesus Christ.
I think I remember this being reported at the time, but it has been
debunked in a correction end note here:

Is that debunking true, or did Watt in fact say something of the kind?
