Newsweek managing editor Jon Meacham has a book out currently, "American 
Gospel: God, the Founding Fathers, and the Making of a Nation," which may 
be more a more reliable source on the subject of Jefferson's religious 
views.   The book has been promoted well and widely distributed, so you may 
find a copy at your local library.
