[PW] Can a Drug Prescription Be Written for One Year? (also, can a year's supply of a prescription drug be obtained at one time?)

There are also state and federal regs on certain drug classes; 
some can only be prescribed for a month at a time with each 
renewal requiring a doctor's visit.  Other states require 
prescriptions for what would be an OTC drug in another state.

My guess is the simplest thing to do would be to call the 
pharmacy board of the state and ask.  

I've seen (in the past) scrips refillable for a one year period,
as well as scrips allowing 11 one month refills.  I've never seen 
one allowing more than 180 day's supply to be made available at 
once, but I am not a medical or pharmacy person.
