For lawsuits filed against individuals or companies, there are several commercial databases that you could search if you have access: Westlaw and Courtlink (a LexisNexis sister company) for instance.  Their main coverage is Federal courts, but they do cover selected state courts as well.  If you have a local county law library, they may have access.

To look up an attorney, I'd recommend Martindale-Hubbell (www.martindale.com), which is fairly comprehensive.  Or the state bar association where you believe the attorney practiced may have a list of members available to the public.

I'm new to Wombat and hope this isn't in the archives somewhere.  I tried looking but am not sure how to search them.
  Anyway, my patron would like to check out lawsuits against a specific lawyer and an investment company.  The lawyer I couldn't find on the Internet and only an address for the investment company.
  Does anyone know a website that might deal with this topic?
