Our local PBS news show, Chicago Tonight, ran a story, narrated by John
Calloway, on this event. The show ran on Wednesday, June 28, 2006. Here's
the blurb from their website:
Chicago Stories
In June 1954, a rare weather condition on Lake Michigan created a huge and
dangerous wave. John Callaway has the story of Chicago's deadly "Seiche
of 1954."

I saw the episode and it was quite good. They filmed at the local pier
from whence the fishermen had been swept away, interviewed survivors, and
talked about the physics of the event.
